How to write a photo editing prompt
A good edit starts with a clear change and a clear boundary. Describe what should look different, then name the details that should stay intact.
Name the visible change
“Improve this” leaves the editor to guess. Specify the background, lighting, clothing, or object you want to alter. For a portrait, describe the light before asking for a general enhancement.
Soften the light on the face and reduce the harsh shadow under the chin. Keep the expression, hair, and skin texture.
Keep the subject recognizable
If identity or product shape matters, state that explicitly. Check small details after each result: earrings, fingers, labels, and edges can change even when the broad instruction is followed.
Refine from a useful version
Make the next request about the current image. If a later edit loses something you liked, open History and branch from the earlier version rather than describing how to undo several changes.
